A Neopagan Ministries LLC. volunteer prison program
A vow of silence, is a withdrawl of yourself from the constant stream of conversation. It's ultimately a powerful practice of patience and thought. For most, it does have its eventual end, and once again, you reconnect yourself to the common thread of your ever-changing surroundings. This reconnection is a good thing, it's healthy, and needed.
As a solitary practitioner, I'm used to being alone. Just me and my inner sanctum, doing what I love and do best. Still, there are times I am lonely in my spirituality, and self. Times I need something books can't even give me.
Living in Texas, as a pagan, is like taking a vow of religious silence. There is not a day that goes by I don't hear about the Christian belief systems in some form or fashion. It's stifling at times, and it seems there will be no end to the silence. Nowhere to reconnect. However, there are places for a pagan to reconnect, groups even a solitary practitioner like myself need.
This, is what I look for in a neo-pagan ministry: A conversation of my own belief system to connect to, A place to give, A place to receive, A grounding and centering of the spirit. Improving on the recovery and empowerment of myself through the importance of belonging. An end to my religious silence.
Blessed be.
Quiet.
